Real World LV Recap: Mike Gains Girlfriend…Dustin Gains Heather!

The “Real World Las Vegas” has taken some seriously strange turns in the past few weeks. First, Adam Royer gets booted out of the house leaving a spot vacant which is filled by Heather Cooke. Cookie comes in and immediately announced she has her sights on Dustin Zito no matter what which puts off all the girls in the house. Dustin’s gay porn past catches up with him and after Heather Marter discovers the facts, she dumps him although is finding it difficult to remain distant. Cooke takes advantage of the temporary separation and kisses Dustin which sets Heather aflame and the girls are once more on the outs. In order to salvage peace in the house, Cooke confronts Heather and apologizes. Heather returns to Zito and the relationship is back on…for now!

Leroy and Mike find out Cooke kissed Dustin after telling Heather there would be no hookup and declare that Cooke is “toast.” Mike straight up calls her trash and doesn’t blame the other girls for hating her. At the same time, Nany tells Cooke she must not cross the line while informing Heather of the kiss which sets the animosity in motion. All is worked out in the end although there is no one in the house who believes that Heather and Dustin should be hooking back up again. Will this cause a problem as the group heads to Cancun next week?

Mike is fixated on getting laid and all attempts fail until one night he discovers Ally at a night club where Naomi is riding an electric bull. They hit it off and Mike arranges a dinner date with her. Leroy concentrates on giving Mike advice on how to get her in bed, while Mike is concentrating on just enjoying her company. It looks like Michael Ross has made a love connection in Las Vegas and it did not even involve becoming a lowlife male like the rest by focusing on how quickly the opposite sex can be put in between the sheets. It was funny to see how the roommates react to Mike’s new female friend; it is from accepting to treating him like the little brother going on his first prom date!

This week the internship took the bunch in close contact with a group of homeless kids who they served Thanksgiving dinner to at a shelter. Each was affected by the stories told by the teens as they could relate on some level to them all, especially Nany, who befriended a young man who did not really know his biological father. This spurred Nany to pursue her search for her own biological father who she states wrote her letters through his five year incarceration. She has contacted Jonathan Girard of Elite Investigations to handle the case. Will she be able to deal with what is discovered?

Usually, we have no family in Las Vegas so we’ve learned how, during holidays, to make our friends, our family.  Which makes for a far richer, more meaningful celebration for everyone.  This year, two members of my family flew into town to spend Thanksgiving with us and our Las Vegas ‘family’.

Thanks to the kindness of our friend, Greg, our turkeys were deep-fried.  Which he has done for us each year.  So we just prepared them the night before….fresh sage leaves under the skin, a rub on the skin and then chipotle mustard smeared all over the skin prior to frying.

Shake with cracked ice and strain into a glass.  Garnish with a slice of pear.

One of our appetizers was the always popular bacon wrapped dates.  To cut the grease, I partially cook the bacon.  Then stuff the pitted dates with a chunk of Parmesan cheese and wrap the bacon around it.  These can be made almost a week in advance and baked at 350 for about 15-20 min.
