With the Grazia Style Awards fast approaching Ahlan! decided to go behind the scenes of the newly contested Best Bloggers category at this year’s awards to find out more about the faces at fashions forefront. From Hellwafashion to Shades and Coffee we find out why blogging is on the up and discover the secrets to their online style success.

Maha of shadesandcoffee.com. Born in Egypt, raised in New Zealand and Saudi, Maha was brought up with a family obsessed with fashion and it shows. Maha: I believe that bloggers have gained a lot of recognition lately that has allowed them to become an influence within their own communities. Most fashion blogs not only inspire fashion trends but also promote designers and labels they like, which can in turn affect sales. I think it goes far beyond just sharing our views.

Ana aka the ‘Goddess of shoes and chit chat’ and blogger at shoeRA.com is an architect by profession but loves talking all things heels in her spare time. shoeRA.com is a Dubai based fashion blog that talks about the latest in the world of shoes. Ahmad: I have been blogging for more than a year and I started because I felt there was an over saturated with all the information about men’s fashion. I was surrounded by people in the industry who could help me with clear information and material for my blog. I blog whenever I feel like I have something worthy of contributing.

Zahra is the founder of www.lylalovesfashion.com and she also works at Tashkell Art Gallery and is the Creative Director at The Fashion Network. Nadia: I try to go for things that I haven’t read about in other blogs. I like people to read my posts and say “Wow, I haven’t see this before!” Also, I try to keep my posts as personal as possible, because in my opinion, people are more attracted when you include yourself and your thoughts rather than posting about things that you have no connection to.”

In 1995, Zuhair Murad opened his first atelier in Beirut and not long after has established a very high reputation in the international fashion scene. What began as a mere hobby soon turned into an empire of unique sophistication and revered fashion. “Ever since I was a child, I used to imagine designs for imaginary clients. I have always loved to work in the word of luxury and design…As my country in well known for its natural beauty…that expertise…made me fall into the world of haute couture,” Murad has said. His lavish creations, in sensational colors and extraordinary fabrics, are reminiscent of Egyptian princesses, Grecian goddesses and pure, glorious splendor, complete with an edgy twist that modernizes his collections just enough. His extensive lines encompass haute couture, ready-to-wear, accessories and eyewear. Plans to expand the fashion line are underway to include beauty products, perfumes, swimwear and lingerie as well as furnisher. Two boutiques (including showrooms) have been established. The first in Beirut on Charles Helou Avenue and the second on rue Francois Ier in Paris. A showroom is also present in Milan on rue Borgogna.
